Ball State University hosted in May 2016 the First Sursa American Organ Competition in partnership with the Moscow International Goedicke Organ Competition. Raul Prieto Ramirez was the artistic director and jury member besides Cherry Rhodes, Huw Lewis and David Higgs. Two first prizes were awarded to Nicole Simental and Brian Glikes, the audience prize was awarded to Brenda Portman. Both Brian and Nicole attended the Moscow International Competition starting from the second round (as agreed in the partnership). Nicole Simental also won first prize in the Moscow Competition.
